Today we tumbled the compost and realized it is not totally ready yet: it seems it needs some browns (carbon). We sieved whatever could go through the sieve and put back the unripe part in the tumbler with some old dry leaves and some wet ones.
In order to have this batch ready in about three weeks, we need to tumble it about 3 times a week.
It only takes 5 minutes: you spin the tumbler 2/3 times in one direction and the same in the other direction making sure the lid is tightly closed and not holding on to it when tumbling.
C1 and A4 are already doing it.
Could anybody chip in some extra time? Please let me know so that we can make a calendar and have a nice flow.
In the meantime, please do not add any fresh scraps to the tumbler.

Compost...
It seems that the winter has finally left us and we can take the mature compost out of the tumbler.
Anybody available to share some time this weekend? Possible days: Friday, Saturday afternoon and Sunday all day.

Due to the very cold weather, we decided to reschedule the compost sieving to next week end. I'll keep you posted! Stay warm

In the garden Saturday March 4
Preparing for the garden season tomorrow!
Morning - around 10 am - cleaning and tidying up behind the driers to make tools and other garden tricks available to the shareholders who want to try their green thumb in the back or front yard.
At 1:00pm we'll sieve the ripe compost, store it away and finally make the tumbler available for new kitchen scraps!
