Spring is timidly arriving...

Let's get our garden ready to enjoy.



We want to:  

• clean up
• bring out furniture
• hang our new sun shades
• spread compost in beds where needed
• fertilize front lawns 
• transplant a few shrubs 
• edge the front gardens

 Wear gloves, appropriate clothing, sunscreen...See you there!

The GREEN tumbler is HUNGRY for FRESH kitchen scraps. Please feed it!
What does the green tumbler like?

GREENS (materials rich in nitrogen)	BROWNS (materials rich in carbon)
- fruit & vegetable scraps - coffee grounds & tea bags - manure & bedding from plant eating  animals ONLY - green plants - garden trimmings - fresh leaves & flowers - grass clippings	- bread & grains - egg shells - nutshells - corncobs - food-soiled paper towels & napkins - shredded newspaper - fall leaves, twigs & woody prunings - dry plant material - straw & hay - pine needles - potting soil
PLEASE CHOP YOUR KITCHEN SCRAPS AND LAYER THEM WITH SHREDDED NEWSPAPER. THANKS

NOTE: The black tumbler is still CLOSED to fresh kitchen scraps. It still need tumbling!

Fall Accomplishments

The garden committee got a lot of work done today! 

Greenwood Cemetery was our first stop and we got lots of mulch.

Once we were back we planted daffodil, tulip, and iris bulbs in the tree pits on Avenue H.

Thanks to Stephen, Sonia and Claudia for the work and to Nora who supported the workers with cookies and gave a generous donation to the garden.
