• meat or fish scraps
• cheese or dairy products
• fats, grease, or oil
• kitty litter
• colored or glossy paper
• sawdust made from pressure-treated plywood or lumber
• coal or charcoal ashes
• pesticide-treated plants or pesticide-treated grass clippings
• diseased or pest-infested plants
• poison ivy
• invasive weeds
• weeds with seeds
• large branches (call 311 to schedule a special removal)
• non-compostable materials such as plastic even when it says "compostable": they take for ever
• metals, glass
• non-compostable materials such as sand or construction debris

- coffee grounds & tea bags

- green plants

- garden / grass trimmings and clippings

- fresh leaves & flowers

- bread & grains

- egg shells

- nutshells

- corncobs

- food-soiled paper towels & napkins

- fall leaves, twigs & woody pruning

- dry plant material

- straw & hay

- pine needles

- potting soil

NO MEAT, BONES, CHEESE OR CAT LITTER

Please help the compost by chopping your kitchen scraps and combining them with at least the same volume of shredded paper such as: newspaper, cardboard, egg cartons, TP rolls

 END OF SEASON Garden Cleanup

We are going to prepare the garden for the winter 

- put furniture away

- sun sails need to come down

- a little sweeping, and...voila'.

Bring gloves, warm clothes and if you don't want to work, but support our effort, show it with coffee and cookies :)

 

COMPOST IS CLOSED - both bins

Hi composters,

Both compost bins are CLOSED.

They need tumbling.

Please coordinate with Claudia (A4), Katrina (B5), Melvin (F4) or Stephen (F3) if you need help. The black one is very heavy and you can hurt your back doing it by yourself.

BLACK TUMBLER IS OPEN FOR:

Please CHOP water melon rinds, broccoli or flower stalks and ADD PAPER (shredded docs, newspaper, brown shopping bags, egg cartons and similar). Also, when possible, give the bin a tumble after adding fresh scraps. 


Green tumbler is closed. Please do not add any fresh scraps; paper and tumbling are welcome.
