Beds #1 to #6 are inside the gates (backyard); #7 to #13 are on the outside lawns
Bed 1. Sunny
- Plan A. Trim and maintain the existing tall bamboo growth to a 6/8 feet height (now occupying about 2/3 of bed 1). Bamboo is an aggressive invasive plant and is taking over the whole bed. We would need a lot of willing muscles to dig out the new roots and curb the existing plants. This chore would have to be repeated each year.
- Plan B. Let the bamboo completely take over the bed. this means that in about five years that bed will only have bamboo.
- Plan C. Pay a professional to eradicate the bamboo. This would probably be expensive.
Little corner bed between neighbors garage and ivy fence (no mumber). Shade
- Clean up, rake; straighten up bricks
- Add support for flower pots on the tree stump
- Encourage ivy growth on fence empty spaces to provide privacy and obscure the view; trim ivy overgrowth from fence into back yard.
- Remove all dry vegetation
- Identify tree-bush on the South corner; remove if it’s going to become too big for the yard
- Leave ground cover, bulb flowers and the tall grass
- Identify taller tree
- Identify and possibly Remove bush, improve soil with some compost and turn it into a flower bed
- Identify tallest tree – remove if it’s going to be to tall and big for yard
- Identify and train (with string) west corner bush
- Rake, clean. Trim ground cover. Can take some shade loving plants
- Clean, toss soil, fertilize, plant shade loving plants.
- Check/Discuss destiny of tree in bed, which is growing at a rate of 3-4 feet per year.
