Compost is CLOSED.
Adding fresh kitchen scraps (I just removed fresh banana peels - congratulations on buying Fair Trade - potato, apple and carrots pieces) makes creating finished compost impossible.

Thank you for NOT ADDING fresh scraps to either bins.
What you CAN DO is tumbling both every now and then and if you want to do more, please shred newspaper in a large paper bag (such as Trader Joe's or Whole Foods) and leave it by the door with the sign Storage A just by the garbage bins in the basement.

Don't know what to do with your kitchen scraps when bins are closed?
- The Sunday Cortelyou Rd Green Market accepts them;
- The Saturday Grand Army Plaza Green Market accepts them;
- Check with Brooklyn College: I was told they accept them
- Freeze them until one of our garden bins is open.

Please note that the BLACK compost bin is now CLOSED -
The little GREEN one is OPEN.

Please use that for your kitchen scraps. Please remember to add newspaper scraps, torn carton egg containers, brown paper bags and similar paper to your collected scrap.

Compost for your house plants

Hi everybody,

Thank you for contributing your kitchen scraps to the compost tumblers. 

Come and collect some compost for your house plants. 

 

This weekend October 13-14 I'll put a bin with compost in the bike area. Come with a container. First come - First served.
